Bray Lake is a picturesque 50 acre lake in Berkshire with islands and surrounded by trees, in close proximity to the River Thames before it reaches London City. Completely dedicated to watersports this peaceful and quite location is within easy reach of major road networks making it a doddle to get to and geographically central for most. Sitting on the shore is the log cabin of Bray Lake Watersports, who have arguably one of the most active SUP clubs in the UK, with many National events enjoying this fantastic facility every year.

I am very sorry to have to inform you that the planned N1SCO Inland Championships for Bray Lake this weekend will not be able to go ahead. Unfortunately I feel it has become impossible to deliver the event you will expect from N1SCO as we are proud to deliver.

Please know that we do not take this decision lightly and have tried everything we can to solve the issues or to accomodate the event locally to avoid any inconvenience to entrants. I would like to apologise personally for all inconvenience this will cause you and your families. I really am gutted for any competitor we have let down so please accept my sincere apology.

As you might be aware, this was our last N1SCO Championships of the year and was a sell out with 100 competitors ready to enjoy the day paddling together. After a season of 3 great Championships, we really don’t want to stop your fun here and have arranged a plan B which we think could offer those of you who are able to change your plans an awesome days paddling on Saturday as you had planned.

Swanage where we ran the European Championship (please see link to the event video for those not familiar with the area) have given permission for us to return this Saturday and to run the planned event that we will now title ‘The not so Inland Championships’. Swanage is a beautiful beach resort and forecast conditions couldn’t be more perfect with no wind or swell but crystal clear water and Sandy beaches where we will run the event from in the centre of town.

All entrants that I have spoken to who have said they are able to attend Swanage as the alternative venue have automatically been updated and we look forward to a great day together. I understand some will simply not be able to change their plans for Saturday and I am sorry disrupt your weekends plan. I will of course arrange a full refund for the Bray event that will not run. If I have not yet reached you on phone, please could you let me know if you will attend the Swanage event so we can have everything ready for the day.

I really would like to apologise for inconvenience caused and will do everyting possible to ensure that those who come to the Swanage venue have a fantastic days paddling this Saturday. Below is the schedule and information for the day;

Venue Location;
 The postcode to aim for is BH19 1DD or for those navigating by feel, aim for the Mowlem Theatre in the very centre of town where the beach meets the Esplanade. Once you arrive you will not miss the Naish flags and tents on the beach where we are based.
During the daytime, event sponsor Pure Recharge will run a pop up shop on the beach where you can eat healthy. Food will be fresh and fairly priced.
Beer from event sponsor Whitstable Bay will be flowing once racing concludes at our base on the beach so you can enjoy the late afternoon as we prepare for the prizegiving.

Parking;
Swanage will get busy as the day goes on as it is a busy seaside town. As you will be arriving early and before any tourists you might well find you can find a free space on the roads that run away from Shore road on the beach front. Many of these roads do not have parking restrictions but do please check the signs.
Once free parking spaces are gone you will find two main car parks, both easy reach to the event venue and either side of the town. The Marshall can direct you when you approach the drop off point.
Important Information;
Leashes must be worn by all competitors at all times when on the water. Those renting boards will be given a leash if required but all others must supply their own leash.
Please bring some warm clothing and maybe wear neoprene booties if your feet feel the cold. A jacket between races would be recommended. Showers are available on the esplanade about 50m away along with large public toilets.
All competitors will be required to complete an event disclaimer at registration. If you would like to view the disclaimer, print and complete to hand in at registration that would save time. If not, please take a disclaimer at the registration desk and complete before checking in. The disclaimer along with the event risk assessment can be found here;
We very much look forward to welcoming you all on Saturday and wish you a safe journey!
